Mario Testino and LGR create visionary sunglasses
Famed fashion photographer Mario Testino and luxury Italian eyewear brand L.G.R. have collaborated on special edition sunglasses, The Photographer’s Edition. The black and dark havana tortoise acetate frames are 100% handmade in Italy and feature polarized neophan lenses containing rare earth elements such as neodymium, which selectively filter color in order to maximize contrast and sharpen vision while the inner polarized film eliminates harmful UV rays. These lenses are made from the same mineral glass used in camera lenses and are polarized with 100% UV protection, and have 6 layers of anti-reflective interior coating. With a filter category 3 classification and additional infrared protection, you’ll be hard put to find a better, more protective lens anywhere.
But you best be quick to the click, because these unisex designed sunglasses are a limited edition. Only 500 pieces have been made, each is individually numbered, and they’re only available at LGRworld.com from June 10th to September 8th, 2016.
Unlike Mr. Testino’s photos, which we’ve all grown to love and admire, these sunglasses are here today and likely gone tomorrow. If you’ve ever wanted to look through the lens of a world famous photographer, this may be your chance.
Note: the sunglasses carry a retail price of $430.00 USD (380.00 Euros) with 25% of the proceeds going to MATE – Museo Mario Testino, a not-for-profit center based in Lima, which Testino established to contribute to Peru through the cultivation and promotion of culture and heritage.
